Paneer Tikka (Both oven and stove-top method included)

After purchasing a new oven, I always wanted to try some grilled dishes. But I only ended up making cakes, cakes and more cakes! Finally I got some time to try out restaurant style paneer tikka and the result was too good. I tried it in my oven but this can easily be done on stove top too. Try them out and let me know the feedback.

Recipe source: Veg recipes of India

INGREDIENTS:

  • Paneer cubes - 6-8
  • Onion - 1, diced
  • Capsicum - 1, diced
  • Tomato - 1, diced

For marination:

  • Thick curd - 1/2 cup
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red chilli powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Chaat masala - 1/4 teaspoon (optional)
  • Coriander powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Salt - as needed
  • Gram flour/besan - 1 tablespoon (only for stove top method)

METHOD:

  1. Mix all ingredients under "For marination". Make sure that the curd is thick
  2. Add paneer cubes and diced vegetables and mix well so that all are coated well
  3. Keep in the refrigerator for 2 hours
  4. If using wooden skewers, soak the skewers in water for 10 minutes
  5. Pre-heat oven to 200C
  6. Insert the paneer carefully into the skewer and alternately insert other vegetables
  7. Brush a little oil on top of it, place them on a baking tray and keep it on the low rack of the oven. Bake for 20-25 minutes (Turn the skewers after 10 minutes, to ensure uniform baking)
  8. If cooking on stove top, heat a non-stick tawa/pan and drizzle a spoon of oil
  9. Place the skewers on hot tawa and keep turning them in intervals. Cook till the paneer turns golden brown
  10. Serve hot with green chutney!
Note: Inserting them in skewers is optional, you can cook them as individual cubes and serve
